I bought this for my friend as a birthday present - he said it is extremely effective at getting him up, and is very loud; however, he is always hasty to press the button and this has resulted in several cuts to his fingers by the propeller! I would recommend it on the basis that it is a good alarm clock, although I would be careful with the propeller.
