I read this book many times as a boy after receiving it as a gift on my 11th birthday. I recently felt the urge to find it and read it again. Having now done so, I can understand why I read it so many times, so long ago.
Fly For Your Life is a simple story about a young man who did what he thought necessary, at a time when the whole world descended into madness and horror. He did so with incredible courage and skill and earned the gratitude and admiration of his generation and those coming after. The story is simply and matter-of-factly stated without being dry or hard to read.
As World War 2 recedes into the darkness of history, it is still illuminating to read such a tale as this, if only to realise the contribution an ordinary person, such as Robert Tuck, could play in such an extra-ordinary event.
I am happy to have this book back in my collection and happy to have reacquainted myself with one of my childhood heroes.
