A good source for new ideas! 2 Sept. 2003
By James Mosley - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This is a book I got on a whim at the local fly shop. What I like is it showcases patterns from a lot of people who are excellent tiers, but do not have the name recognition of a Jack Dennis or Mike Lawson. The pictures and recipes are all first rate and for the average tier more than enough to put the fly together. The patterns are fresh with alot of new ideas. This is a book that would go well with the Fly patterns of Umpqua Feather Merchants book as a fly tying recipe book. Personally I think you will like this book a great deal.

Tons of flies 22 Feb. 2011
By Chad B - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Bought one for myself and one for my brother. This has tons of flies grouped into categories, and nearly all categories are well represented. nymphs, dries, terrestrials, bass bugs, salmon/steelhead, saltwater and more. Recipes are given for each fly. Gives you no tying instructions, however. I usually find the fly I want and if I can't figure out how to tie it, I find it online. Great reference tool, though. One of the most comprehensive fly tying books I've seen.

Disappointing collection of unknown patterns 21 Jan. 2010
By Zeke Bentley - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book should have been subtitled, "Let's get the gang together to create a book of all the patterns we created at the bench." It has few of the real standards and way too many flies that no one has ever heard of. I was hoping to have a reference such that if I discovered a new fly, I'd know where to get a pattern. I have owned this booked for a year and while I have often looked though it, I bet I haven't tied 5 patterns it contains. Save your money!

Fly fishing 8 Jun. 2010
By Alice L. Miller - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I was very pleased with the book, it was a gift for my son who is ill. He said it was everything he thought it would be. Thanks Amazon for always giving us a good deal.
My favorite collection of tying patterns 29 Aug. 2014
By Ms. Peggy A. Drechsler - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Excellent collection of 1600 patterns that include a wide variety of classics and modern patterns by popular fly tyers, using the latest materials. Patterns are well-organized by categories, plus there is an index. Substitutions are offered for feathers of rare birds and other difficult-to obtain materials, which I greatly appreciate. This is *not* a how-to book of techniques, so if you find a pattern that you don't know how to tie, you will have to look elsewhere for tying instructions. (Search for the pattern name on YouTube--chances are, you will find it.)
