This is a nice album of songs from 1970/71. Jade were a British electric folk trio led by Marian Seagal (who wrote the songs). The style is similar to Sandy Denny's non-traditional stuff like "Who Knows Where the Time Goes?"
Guesting on the album are some famous session players including Pete Sears (later Jefferson Starship), Micky Waller (Jeff Beck Group / Rod Stewart) and John Wetton (Crimson).
I saw Seagal and her band play at my school folk club back in 1974. She was probably disappointed that her audience consisted of about 30 spotty sixth formers. She was good fun, very confident and it was the best concert we ever put on. We must have paid her peanuts! This review is intended as some sort of recompense. Buy this album!

Jade are a letter from another, gentler time. Marian Segal's voice is a liquid delight, somewhere in the neighbourhood of Joan Baez's but folded more with velvet. The 3-part harmonies are well crafted and executed, the voices sounding organically compatible.
This is prime early 70's pop-folk; the songs have a certain naive charm: never profound documents of the human condition -that probably wasn't the intention- they are wistful to cheerful observations of personal and shared landscape. One track which doesn't work is where they try to groove; it finds the band awkward and lacking the necessary blues/roots dynamic. Overall though, a most pleasant and musical listen, with an appeal which grows (for this reviewer) with every listen.

Excellent folk rock and not dated at all.
Anyone who enjoys Pentangle/Fairports etc should really enjoy this.
Melodic acoustic music with occasional electric guitar, congas etc..
Good strong songs with mainly female vocals with male counter harmonies.
