The Flutterbye Fairy was on my 8 year old daughters 'wish list' for Christmas! I was apprehensive as reviews were average and stated it required 6 AA Batteries. Santa delivered the Fairy on cue, be prepared and buy the batteries first, as they don't come with the Fairy. You need to charge up the Fairy on the base for 30 minutes which gives about 5 mins flying time. The batteries are installed in the base.
We found the Fairy erratic, whizzing off to the left and it takes plenty of patience and practise to keep her in the air for any length of time. She crashes into the wall very quickly, and I wouldn't buy this item at all, if you have small rooms.
It requires 2 people to operate the flying fairy, one to point the base at the fairy and press a button (once) to lower her as she flies, press the button (twice) and she stops in mid air. The other person hovers their hand under the fairies legs, if they are quick enough, before the fairy throws herself at a wall or ceiling.
My daughter and I would describe this as an experience rather than fun, and so far she hasn't been out of the base since the first 2 days of Christmas. If you want the flying experience that is orientated for girls and your child is 8 years plus, it may be worth a whirl, but only if the item comes down in price. I would put a cost of £15 on this item and it cost £30 from Santa.
Good Luck you'll need it!
