Twelve Strong Stories 2 Sep 2010
By Steve G - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Flowers is a wonderful collection of twelve short stories, without a stinker in the bunch! These stories range from creepy to surreal, haunting to gripping - but each one is an absolute page turner.

The opening story 'The Vampire Shortstop' is probably the strongest in this collection. It's about a small town little league team that just happens to have a vampire on the team. People have become tolerant of all different races and religions, but there remains a schism between the living and the undead. The story comes to a head as tensions rise between this twelve year old vampire shortstop and the intolerant townsfolk, and plays out in a very Twilight Zone-esque manner. If this sounds interesting to you, then you will almost definitely enjoy this collection of stories. Flowers definitely left me interested in checking out more stories by Scott Nicholson.

It's also worth noting that these stories are appropriate for young adults. I would have loved to read this as a sixth grader!

I have started to notice that anything I read by Scott is amazing. Don't expect to put this down easily just because it's short stories!

These are haunting stories, dark, touching, and tender at the same time. Once you start to read, you can't stop.
