5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic female role model, 25 Jan 2008

This review is from: The Flowers of the Field (Paperback)
I read this in my late teens and loved the strength of the lead female character and wished I was her. There is a lovely romantic story interweaving the novel which doesn't slow the plot down or jeopardize the characterization.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic read that puts Birdsong in the shade, 22 Sep 2000
I loved this book! I first read it years ago when it was first published and came across it recently while I was browsing through the Amazon site. It was so long ago that I couldn't really remember any of the details and it was like reading it for the first time. Following the exploits of Dulcie, Thea and Primmy has been a joy, Sarah Harrsion has a wonderful way of bringing her characters to life, so much so, that you find you really want to find out how it is all going to end. Having read Sebastian Foulkes' Birdsong recently I can say that Flowers of the Field is far superior and if anyone is deciding whether or not to give this book a try - just pop it in your shopping basket, you won't be disappointed!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Flowers of the Field, 29 Jun 2011
My wife had a very worn paperback copy of The Flowers of the Field, I ordered a hardback for her, which she is currently reading and enjoying.
