I buy and read a lot of books, but rarely review them. They have to be very special (or very bad) for me to hit the keyboard! This book is very, very special. I have read endless dry lists of what to plant with what, etc., but Bob's books are different. Bob tells you WHY. His logic, good common sense and practical wisdom shine through on each page. Explained in such clear and simple words that the information is easy to remember. So many authors write very specifically about individual plants, with rigid rules to follow. Bob Flowerdew teaches principles and the wonderful thing about this, is that when you understand the principle, it applies to hundreds of plants and situations. As I read his books my brain is just going, "Yes, I understand now. That makes sense.". I am left feeling that I have really learned something worthwhile, totally inspired, full of enthusiasm and with endless ideas to put into action to make my garden and plot a haven for plants and wildlife.

This book is so easy to understand. No jargon or complicated instructions. Bob explains everything in such a clear way, that he makes you realise 'why' you are being shown how to do something, so you can apply the same rule to other things. I would definitely recommend this book.
