Product Description

The year is 1920, and a young (and as yet unpublished) Cicely Mary Barker is staying at a friend’s cottage in Storrington, West Sussex, for the spring and summer. Over the months as she sketches and writes in the gardens and grounds, she starts to suspect the presence of fairies in the flowers all around her. Her journal reveals her thoughts and musings, and includes sketches, research into general fairy folklore and many more extra items, as she searches for evidence that the Flower Fairies exist! Although a fictional account, the Flower Fairies Journal ties in with real dates and events, uses Cicely Mary Barker’s sketches, artwork and samples from her poems, and contains many beautiful design elements from the 1920’s and 1930’s.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous! Entrancing!, 15 Jul 2006
I got this book as a gift from people that know I am a nutter for faries. This book is beyond gorgeous! It's like magic in ink and paper! It copies the style of the very popualr "dragonology" books. Filled with secret compartments, illustrations and facts! It is a treasure, both for children and adults alike! And everytime you open it, you notice something new that you just didnt notice there before!

5.0 out of 5 stars WATCH OUT, 16 April 2008
This is a great book which is thoughly enjoyable, Just wanted to put a quick warning up for other faerie lovers.

This book is the same book as "Fairyopolis" so if you have that don't buy this and Vica versa.

Fairyopolis is just a reprint under a different title

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly beautiful book, 4 Jul 2007
By caloa (Denmark) - See all my reviews
This book is just amazing in its detail. It's filled with stunning and pretty watercolours and the little pockets and flaps that can be opened make it a truly special experience. Some of the drawings are so realistic that it's difficult to see if it's another flap that can be opened and only by running my fingers over the page am I able to find all the little secrets within the pages. The details are so many that there are hours worth of reading in this book, even though it doesn't have that many pages. It's also really inspiring for people who like to paint themselves.
