Product Description

Product Description

Born into a wealthy family, Florence Nightingale could have lived a life of leisure and luxury. Instead she longed to be a nurse. In 1830, that was the last thing a rich girl could do - but Florence was no ordinary girl. Ages 7-11.

A Great Woman 18 May 2010
By Twinkle
Format:Hardcover
I bought the book for my daughter whose school topic this term is Famous People. I wanted to buy an addition with coloured illustrations through out, this book combines a good story with easy to read text.

This book is a useful insight into Florence Nightingale life and the improvements she made in hospitals and how she grew up in a privileged background, and had to fight with her parents to lead her own life!

Would recommend this addition !

My son very happy with this book. He is studying Florence Nightingale as part of year 2 work. We read the book together and enjoyed it. Excellent, well written and good illustrations.

For young children 22 April 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this book for my two children, aged 9 and 12, as a simple introduction to Florence Nightingale's life. It was clear and concise, we read and talked about her life in one 'session'. This version is definitely for young children but was exactly what I was looking for.
