5.0 out of 5 stars Spot on and great fun ! 31 Jan 2012
By JO34270
Format:Paperback
This is a great read for children and parents ! This book is a fun portrayal of everyday life, with its routine,
fears and emotions, rules, etc. We can all relate to Emily & the fear of loosing our
beloved "Floppy the Monster". Great to see children portrayed as they really are, filling up the shopping trolley
with items not on the list ! This is a fast & fun book, brilliantly written and illustrated, that my 4 year old asks me to read over and over - with a 10 year old listening in and enjoying it too !

5.0 out of 5 stars So much fun 13 Sep 2011
Format:Paperback
Just an excellent book full of wonderful illustrations. I loved the hint of the supernatural together with a clear, relevant and contextualised health and safety message. Laughed out loud whilst reading it. Great book and a must at bedtime.

4.0 out of 5 stars Delightful tale, superbly illustrated. 24 Nov 2010
Format:Paperback
This story kept my 5 year old enthralled. Excellently recounted and illustrated - the safetly points come across perfectly without being laboured, the story flows well and is just long enough for a child's attention span.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Illustrations ! 23 Nov 2010
Format:Paperback
I appreciated the inclusion of the theme of safety into this children's storybook, and the worry about losing a beloved object will certainly be familiar to most children. However, what really makes this book are its illustrations. Ms. Harris does a great job in bringing to life the atmosphere of the story through her delightful and whimsical illustrations. Each page is richly endowed with colorful and humorous detail that will not only hold the attention of the child, but will be enjoyable for the adult reader as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Charming reader of good vs evil 18 Nov 2010
Format:Paperback
My 3 year old would love this as a bedtime book - she's at that age where she likes a story that's a teeny bit scary but ends happily. It is written by someone who clearly knows small children well - their fixations, their attachment to comforters (but complete inability to keep an eye on them!), their fears and their dreams. I can see that it is also a great introduction to reading with it's repetition and simple vocab and it is brought to life with the fabulous and whimsical illustrations. Definitely one for their stockings.

I have just read this book and am sure it will be enjoyed by any young child, as it has a simple but fun story that kids would relate to. As an illustrator myself, I was particularly interested to see that side of the book, and they don't disappoint. In my opinion, Sybil Harris' drawings complement the story line well.
