Chose this model after spending quite some time comparing the many similar products and their customer comments.
Most claimed of being suitable with all types of TV's. The Flipper stated suitability included set top boxes. This claim made my decision for me.
It arrived sooner than expected well packaged.
Being "Senior" I am usually intimidated with the instructions for new technical equipment. I was therefor pleasantly relieved that the set up instructions were simple and easy to follow (read twice before starting the programming)
Our TV set top box provides the Virgin range of facilities. From the extensive lists provided with the Flipper I simply punched in the appropriate code and that was it...... up and running. Excellent. No more fumbling, no more swearing. This is exactly what I was looking for and I can recommend it to all those Technophobes like myself.

Having struggled with a multi-buttoned remote for ages, our friend now only has four main button controls to master, mainly by touch. He now finds it easy to switch channels and operate the volume on his TV with a SKY box attached. With his favourite channels programmed into the handset, the cover slides over the small programming buttons so he doesn't touch them by accident. Easy to programme and set up, following the instructions provided. Godsend!

This is an excellent product-my father-in-law has dementia and struggled to operate the TV in his room. I've done a LOT of research into these simplified remote controls and had settled on the Doro Handle Easy Universal Infrared Control but the reviews on Amazon pointed out they didn't work with Technika TVs purchased from Tesco. Well, I can confirm that this remote DOES. You may need to use the learning mode (initially the Direct Code method did not work) but once done its a dream to program - it will cycle thru up to 25 Favourite channels (so you can cut out all the Freeview crap) and you can lock it against any further accidental programming. The only thing I would change is making the slide-down cover more "lockable" so the user doesn't accidentally discover all the extra buttons hidden within.

This has been worth every penny. My mother used to constantly loose signal by hitting the source button and I would have to go around and retune her tv. Very frustrating for her if I was at work she would have no tv all day. This has now stopped.............hurrah

I bought this remote for someone who has difficulty pressing small buttons. It is easy to set up and use - once you realise that it is the instruction manual that is deficient, not the design of the actual remote. For example, several reviewers comment that you have to scroll through all the channels one by one using the arrow keys to reach the one/s you want, which may cause problems for older people finding their favourite channels. What the manual doesn't tell you (anywhere that I could find) is that the lower front section of the casing (the bit with 'flipper' printed on it) actually slides down just like battery compartment cover, to reveal the 0 - 9 buttons and the ADD button. I only found this out by emailing customer support, after I had searched unsuccessfully for these. These essential buttons are repeatedly referred to in the instructions, but the instructions are inadequate, nor is there the usual sort of diagramme labelling the buttons/functions, nor does the sliding section give any indication (such as the usual little arrow) that it slides down. This is my only criticism, but as it stands, I feel it is quite a major one and I have therefore knocked a star of because of this. The casing needs a little downward-pointing arrow on it and the manual needs pictures depicting the outside and the inside.

BOUGHT THIS FOR MY GRAN WHO SUFFERS FROM VERY POOR EYESIGHT,
HER TV IS THE TESCO MAKE TECKNICA,
THE CODE IN THE BOOKLET DID NOT WORK,
BUT, THERE IS A "COPY" FUNCTION AND EACH BUTTON CAN
BE PROGRAMED WITH NO FUSS. REAL EASY TO USE, CHANNEL UP, DOWN
VOLUME UP, DOWN. MUTE AND ON/OFF.

Chose this star rating because we bought this remote for an old person who was always getting into difficulty with the standard remote that came with her telly . She lives in a care home and each time we went round she had pressed all the buttons and couldn't watch any station. This remote has solved the problem, my partner tuned it in, too complicated for me, but mother is able to use it because there are only a few buttons to operate. Would recommend, once it's tuned in, very easy to use

The idea behind this cannot be faulted - a simple-to-use remote with the minimum of buttons. If I had to find any sort of weakness the only thing I could suggest is that the buttons do need a rather firm push - not "hard", but just a little more than expected. In operation, the fact that you can programme in favourite channels is brilliant. No more shopping / pop / adult channels for elderly relatives to endure. There can be a slight issue if the ">" or "<" is not received by the TV. Assume, for a moment, that you have programmed in your favourites as 1, 2, 3 & 4. If you are on channel 1 & press ">", the remote will assume that the TV has changed channel. However, if the signal was not picked up & the TV does not change, the next button press will take it to channel 3, so you may need to go back one channel. Clearly, this is not a fault with the Flipper (and i cannot think of another sensible way of using this function), but needs to be borne in mind. The only other "weakness" is that the unit seems to send the channel numbers fairly slowly, So, if you wanted to go up one channel to the BBC news, you would see numbers 1, then 3, then 0 appear. If you missed this & pressed the ">" again too quickly, you could end up with e.g. "130131" appearing on the screen. All this may seem like I do not like the unit - NOTHING could be further from the truth - see my first comment. Buy it, but just be aware how it works. Use it properly & it will save your sanity, just do not complain to the makers if you don't.
