This is up there with 'Red Storm Rising'.
This book grabs you in the first few pages and keeps you on the edge of your seat from there on in, a technologicaly brilliant book.
I have read this book so many times and enjoy it every time,. about to buy my 'umteenth' copy as I have worn all the others out.

Quite simply cold war phobias at the very pinnacle of the profession. Clancy presents the more refined book overall, but this book is not about smoothness, this is about sheer power. This is my favourite book, and I also loved Red Storm Rising by Clancy

One of the first books by Dale Brown that introduced the word Dreamland into my vocabulary. I have read this book recently for the second time and I was reminded of what I had always thought of as a true adventure story. I have seen this described as a techno thiller, whatever that may mean,but the sheer joy of this story is the willingness of the those involved to stick their necks out for the flag during the cold war. The conversion of the B52(the Old Dog)upgraded and used as a test bed for future bombers,able to punch way above it's weight. And when the chips were down the only aircraft available, qualified even; to carry out the task of preventing the first strike of the rogue? Russian assets,is a true adventure. The group of experts from Dreamland that are each uniquely qualified for their tasks withing the crew, become the nucleus of the sucessive novels in the series created by Dale Brown. Having become an enthusiastic followerof the series I have over the years become acquainted with the backgrouns of many of these people, and welcome them back into my ken with each new book in the series. The technicality is there but the human interst is maintained throughout.

KNOCK OUT!
Definitely worth a five-star rating. Great bunch of characters inclusing "the old dog". If you enjoy John Templeton Smith you'll like Brown just as much.

Non stop action from start to finish.
This is one of the best books i have read in a very long time. Fast paced action from start to finish. This book deserves 6 stars.

Excellent Book
The book was non-stop action from the start with the U.S. and the Soviets lining up for WWIII. I read it in less than two days because it was such a good read.
