5.0 out of 5 stars thrilling to the end, 28 Feb 2001
By A Customer
the book will take you to through the streets of italy and a quiet revolution going on over there .the reunion of two brothers and the thrill of going through a ritualistic procession which aptly titled as per the book the flight of the falcon.one of the lesser known works of daphne du maurier but nevertheless a masterpiece guaranteed to keep u awake till the last page and leave you wanting for more.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great book, 16 Aug 2009
Guessing the denouement the first time it's mentioned may have spoilt my reading of this book, however du Maurier's superior prose kept me with the main character Armano throughout, and it didn't matter in the least that I knew what Armano did not.

The author weaves a majestic tale of a young man returning to his home town many years after he had left in order to find out what had happened to his former nurse, a woman who is murdered many miles away at a stop off point for Sunshine Tours, the travel company Armono now works for. Unwillingly embroiled in the murder by two well-meaning clients, his return coincides with the town festival run by a powerful and enigmatic man Armano recognises from the past. However, the man had supposedly died during the war...

The story moves along at a good pace throughout, nearer the end it picks up substantially and, like the horses which form part of the festival procession, the ending races to a surprising and satisfying climax.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not my favourite Daphne Du Maurier book, 15 May 2008
By DEJ (Kuwait) - See all my reviews
Usually I can't put down a Daphne Du Maurier book but I found this one hard work. I did make it to the end of the book but am not sure why I bothered. Curiosity to see how the story panned out I guess. I thought that it would have be more interesting considering its well-known title. A surprising let-down.
