Quenelda and Root return for an adventure as action-packed and beautifully crafted as the critically acclaimed The Dragon Whisperer.

Product Description

A brutal war against the united hobgoblin tribes rages, and Quenelda longs to accompany her hero Dragon Lord father into battle. But when the elite Stealth Dragon Services is ambushed and defeated - due to the dark treachery of the Grand Master - and her father is presumed dead, the Seven Sea Kingdoms are thrown into turmoil.

Evil plots swirl - with even Quenelda's own beloved dragon in mortal danger - but Quenelda finds a magical, secret solace at the heart of the fabled fortress Dragon Isle. Can she use her new powers to set the tide of victory turning against the hobgoblins?

A Real Buzz 12 Aug 2011
Format:Paperback
Having waited for ages for the sequel to the Dragon Whisperer, Flight to Dragon Isle did not disappoint. Sure it is a bit darker, but it is also funnier, more vivid and so very very difficult to put down.

I admit it - I'm a softie for dragons and so am naturally drawn to dragon books. So many are disappointing rehashes of the same old story and the dragons are humdrum. But Lucinda Hare's books are different. This is not just another dragon story, instead Lucinda has injected something unique into The Seven Sea Kingdom and the characters which inhabit it. There is something special about Quenelda, Root and co - they feel real, they feel like friends. But even better, much time and love has gone into developing dragon characters giving them unique personalities and temperaments.

Will good win over evil? Life isn't that simple and neither is Flight to Dragon Isle.

There is a real buzz about this book ....I hope I don't have to wait so long for the third instalment!!!!!

By Gareth Wilson - Falcata Times Blog TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
Having loved the original novel by Lucinda I really couldn't wait to get reacquainted with Root and Quenelda as their adventures continue against the evil behind the scenes, the Grand Master, former friend of Quenelda's father Earl Rufus De Winter.

Whilst the first book set the scene, this one gets down to the bare bones of the matter at hand and like the Empire Strikes Back, it's a lot darker than the first as there's a lot of death as well as devastation and it looks overall like the Grand Master who would be King is all set to become the Emperor of all he surveys. Add to this a good number of twists, some very bleak outcomes backed up with one ember of light that will need the best efforts of everyone to ensure that the fire of righteousness takes light.

All in this title was a scary and thoroughly enjoyable read despite the darker aspect and one that I feel shows quite clearly that not every world is sweetness and light with the heroes not winning every battle. Its cleverly written, the cast addictive and when backed with stooges (the Hobgoblins and Quenelda's Brother) as well as Patsies (Quenelda's Brother again) it's one that really will keep the reader demanding the third instalment. A cracking read although you may want to read through it with your own hatchling due to some of the subject matter.

Far from disappointed 31 Oct 2011
Format:Paperback
The Flight to Dragon Isle is AMAZING. It's darker than the Dragon Whisperer, and the unexpected twists really surprised me and kept me going. I was so glad to see that the strengths of the first book were still the same. In fact, Lucinda Hare managed to make the characters even more complex; and once again she did it without talking down to the kids (or me ;-)). There was some nice humour in there, although the author certainly didn't shy away from showing true emotions in a way that allowed me to engage with these feelings. At some point I even had tears in my eyes. Once again the three elements which, to me, are vital for a good book - characters, plot, and craft of writing - came together nicely.

So far, this has been the best read of the year. On the basis of the Dragon Whisperer I expected it to be at the top of my list, but even so the author still managed to blow me away.
