5.0 out of 5 stars Authoritative and useful book on key subject, 23 Aug 2007
This is a really useful book that addresses an important issue - namely how to make housing flexible and adaptable enough to last for longer. The book combines a history of the subject and together with a theory of how to think in an indeterminate way. Most useful are the case studies, each of which has a specially drawn plan at the same scale so that comparisons can be made, and the manual at the end which shows how some of the ideas can be put into action. I have read lots of books coming out of Universities, and often they are abstract and dense; this one is accessible and genuinely useful for the average architect. It also looks really good! The only downside is that some of the illustrations are bit small and so it is difficult to see what is going on.
