Product Description
Produced for honing and maintaining the edges on both the inside and outside of gouges and vee tools, the Flexcut SlipStrop consists of a complex moulding with two areas of leather and a bar of a specially developed honing compound. The compound is available separately for those wishing to use it on their existing strop. In use, the particular part of the moulding most suited to the chosen tool is rubbed crayon-like with compound and the tool stropped. A mirror finish is achieved quickly, and the resulting razor edge can be maintained by repeating the process many times before resharpening is required. Use for gouges and vee tools both inside and outside.

I bought this product as it is quite widely recommended by many woodcarving sites and articles. I was suprised that it is actually made out of quite a soft wood rather than plastic or similar material so I'm not certain just how durable it will be long-term. Although compared to other tool sharpening products it is relatively inexpensive, so this isn't really an issue.It has a good range of different shaped ridges for sharpening different types of knives and chisels/gouges and is supplied with a block of sharpening compound. I found the v-tool sharpening ridge particularly useful as these are difficult tools to sharpen. The product is self explanatory but still comes with clear instructions for use.

This strop fits the profiles of the gouges I have.

If you have a set of woodcarving chisels, don't be without a SlipStrop.

nice little item
got this to sharpen my flexcut tool and it does a great job, small and easy to pop in yous bag if your of for a weekend of carving.
