Book Description

16 Jan 2012
Imagine being able to handle whatever life throws at you with ease. Our habits, which help form our personality, undermine our ability to rise to new challenges. Most of our actions are based on old behavioural patterns so instead of coming up with new strategies, we're stuck on autopilot. And the more fixed our personality is, the harder we find it to adapt to change or to the new. No wonder we often feel overwhelmed, unhappy or stressed. We all have a far greater range of behaviours at our disposal than we realise but we limit our life by using just 1/10th of our personality. The other 9/10ths of our tools for life lie dormant in our brain's toolbox. flex will show you how to start using them. flex is about taking charge of ourselves and not slipping onto autopilot. A person who can flex, using different behaviours appropriately, will feel at ease in any situation. The key to being able to flex is to Do Something Different, to disrupt the brain's habits. When you can flex your personality you will feel more in control, happier and less stressed. flexing will help you to achieve more in life too. Find out about the science behind the Do Something Different behaviour-change technique that is helping to transform people's lives. And experience for yourself the endless possibilities it can open up for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sound advice 1 Feb 2012
Format:Paperback
I've just taken delivery of my copy of 'Flex'. It's fun, easy to read, yet full of sound, straightforward advice on how to live more happy, fulfilling and coherent lives, (with a smattering of the science behind it). Now, who wouldn't want that? Check out your own personality and assess how flexible and coherent you are with fun questionnaires, then have a go at 'Doing Something Different'. Hurray! Now, we don't have to will our lives to greatness, we can just do some of the fun and interesting tasks that these guys suggest. Eg. don't wear a watch for a day, or talk to someone you don't know. Or, how about write a review on Amazon? Great, life changing, world changing book. Buy it now!

It is a very inspiring book, explaining how you can develop into a more coherent and flexible person. Useful for personal use or for organisations or peoplegroups. It helped me to look at my own personal development in a new way, and I started acting upon it with immediate effect. Very rewarding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Think you're successful? Read this and be more so 15 April 2012
Format:Paperback
Are you a leader, a manager, a parent, a friend? If yes, you and the people around you will get something by you reading this book. Forget the pop psychology books about how to be thinner, richer, sexier, smarter, this is better and more fun. Grounded in robust research and written in an easy going and easily applicable style Profs Fletcher and Pine demonstrate something as simple as changing your automatic response to a situation (your usual way of being, ergo your habits) can make you more successful and less stressed. The best bit is, it's all very easy if you're willing to see that there could be more to you than mets the eye. Do something different, read this book and you and the people around you will reap the benefits.
