It seemed inconceivable at the time that the masterful "Flesh", was at the time of its release, Jan Johnston's first solo material. She who so memorably brought us so many fantastic tracks, largely writing and performing the vocals for various high profile releases such as "Anomaly" - Libra, "Take me by the hand" - Sub-Merge, "Remember" - BT and "Skydive" - Freefall. In 2000 Jan Johnston signed a solo deal with Perfecto, the fruits of which were a number of tracks, the best known being "Flesh". Originally produced by BT, the original version was withdrawn and replaced by top quality hypnotic trance reworks care of Tilt aka Parks & Wilson and Quivver. Despite an unprecedented level of success, "Flesh" was denied a release in 2000. It was only later that year when the track had been remixed by one DJ Tiesto, still on a high from his reputation making refix of the 1999 Fade co-produced Canadian monster "Silence" - Delerium feat. Sarah McLachlan, that Perfecto head honchos Oakenfold & Osborne noted the track garnering even further support. A full release ensued in May 2001 which saw "Flesh" hit the top 40. It was quickly followed by another track "Silent words". Further productions, all of which have been touted for full release, "Religion", "As the cracks appear" and famously "Am I on pause", remain unreleased, but that has not deterred Manchester's own Jan Johnston, who continues to furnish us with many high quality vocal trance numbers.
