Definitely one to buy!,

This review is from: New Flavours of the Jewish Table (Paperback)
I would just like to say that I just borrowed this book - Flavours of the Jewish Table from my local library.
I would like to say what an interesting book this is. The recipes are really good, easy to follow with an interesting account of where each one originates from and a little bit about the Jewish culture etc. I can't wait to start trying them. But in my opinion, even if you take the recipes out the book it is still a really interesting read. I am not of the Jewish faith but this book is really good at explaining the history of the Jewish way of life such as different cultures, religious festivals, the way and why of food preparation etc. The recipes are a bonus. I will be definitely be ordering my own copy.

A treat from beginning to end,
By Franny Mac (West Yorkshire) - See all my reviews
This review is from: New Flavours of the Jewish Table (Paperback)
I had been off work sick for a week and had been feeling rather glum. My best friend and I went for a bimble to Salt's Mill in Saltaire, and browsed through the bookshop. I decided to buy Denise's book as a treat to myself, and had a really enjoyable evening thumbing through the pages and deciding which recipes to make. First I made the lovely Leek and Potato Gratin, with Fennel and Orange Salad. Every mouthful was different and wonderful, the textures and flavours were so complimentary and healthy-tasting. Since then I have been on a bit of a roll and made the Three Bean Mash Pie (YUM), the Israeli Salad (which was given a 10/10 rating by my guests) and the Feta, Chickpea and Olive Salad (fabulous).
I emailed Denise to compliment her on her wonderful recipes, and received a lovely personal response from her. I will be recommending this book to all my friends interested in cookery, and also hope to attend one of Denise's cookery classes. I urge everyone to buy this book - it rocks!

A Fantastic Cookbook!,
By Robert (London, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: New Flavours of the Jewish Table (Paperback)
This is definitely one of the best cook books I have read of late - I actually had to use tabs to bookmark the many recipes that I want to try from it.
Denise has an easy, accessible writing style and the stories that accompany the recipes provide a valuable and interesting insight into the Jewish diaspora and the evolution of this distinctive culinary tradition. Definitely one to buy and treasure!
