5.0 out of 5 stars flashing fire engines book 5 Jan 2010
A fantastic book! I bought this book for my 2 year old son for xmas, as he has an obsession with fire engines. He loved it! It is written in simple rhyming text, 2 sentences per page, which explain what happens from when a fire alarm is raised, and how fire fighters go about their jobs. My little boy gets exited every time he sees a fire engine going off to their fire, and now talks knowledgeably about how they put their fire fighting clothes on, connect up hoses, draw water from fire hydrants, and rescue people with ladders and platforms! I thoroughly recommend this book for any little boy with a love of fire engines, and am sure it will remain a firm favourite for us for many years to come!

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic! 19 Nov 2009
My 4 & 5 yr olds know this book, & 5 others in the same series, off by heart word perfect! They listened to the CD alond with 'reading' the book and now impress every visitor to the house with a reading (read I must say, in just the same way as Keith Wickham does on the CD - they even mimick his accent!)
They absolutely love these books, and it gives them great confidence for starting to really learn to read (because they think they can already!)
Others in the series include Terrific Trains, Amazing Aeroplanes, Tough Trucks, Dazzling Diggers to name but a few.
Do make sure you get the ones with the CD included, as the do sell them without as well. But the CD makes such a great addition. Helpful too when you can't "read the book right now Mummy"! - just pop the CD in the stereo.

The book was bought for a present so I've only had a brief look at it. Book itself is good but I did want the one with the CD and presumed the because the CD showed up when I used the 'Look Inside' function before buying the book, that it woudl indeed contain a CD. Misleading. Didn't have time to return and try to find one that does.

2.0 out of 5 stars No CD 15 April 2013
Format:School & Library Binding|Verified Purchase
Please be aware that although many reviews of this book mention a CD and when you preview the book with the "look inside" option the back cover states "The story CD lets children follow along with the jolly rhyming text, with music and fun sound effects to accompany the reading" there is no CD with this book.

Granted the product description doesn't mention a CD, but it is an easy assumption to make, so I wanted to let everyone know before they made the same mistake I did.

I bought this for a present and in my opinion the book alone isn't worth the 8 I paid.
