Great cover,
This review is from: The Flash: A Flash Fiction Anthology (Paperback)
Aside from the quality of the writing, the book is worth buying just for the evocative cover illustration by Steve Sherrill.

Mixed bag, but overall definitely worth it,
By LGwriter "SharpWitGuy" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Flash: A Flash Fiction Anthology (Paperback)
This recent (2007) anthology of flash fiction, edited by Peter Wild, collects some really interesting American and British writers (this is a British project) including Rick Moody, Nicholas Royle, Joel Lane, Jonathan Lethem, Katherine Dunn, Michel Faber, Jeff Vandermeer, Paul di Filippo, Barry Yourgrau, Aimee Bender, Jeffrey Ford, and a whole lot of other writers--there's a total of 100 stories here. While Rick Moody's story kind of left me scratching my head, overall this is a very strong anthology. Sure, there are a few bumps and misses and clunks here and there, but for the most part this is a great group of pieces.
Definitely one of the best recent anthologies of contemporary flash fiction. Another interesting one will be forthcoming later in 2008 or early 2009...(you'll just have to see which one that is...) In the meantime, grab this one. It's worth it.

Not Fantastic, But...,
By William Glenn - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Flash: A Flash Fiction Anthology (Paperback)
I had hoped this anthology would be as important as the cause it benefits, Amnesty International. There were a few winners, for instance Conrad Williams "The Hoopoe," and - especially - Susan Elderkin's whimsical "Look at Me I'm a Tree," both of which delivered an emotional charge and seemed to demand a re-read. But some of the pieces, unfortunately, lacked what can be so wonderful about very short pieces: surprise, concision, and a strong voice. That said, it's still a good way to support a great cause.
