The output from Flaming Star is not particularly interesting, while it may be a better Elvis film, the music doesn't live up to the film. "Summer Kisses" is a decent effort, but you get very tiered of "Flaming Star" after 3 versions! I give it two starts - **.
Things get better with Wild In the Country. "In My Way", "Forget Me Never", "Lonely Man" and the title song are good acoustic efforts. Then there's the excellent "I Slipped", which we're even given a radically different version of!. Well worth listening to. I give it four starts - ****.
But the sound track to "Follow That Dream" is excellent, and finishes the collection off nicely. "What A Wonderful Life" is one of the best songs of the period, the title song, "Sound Advice", "I'm Not The Marrying Kind" and "A Whistling Tune" (better than the version of "Kid Galahad") are great little pop songs, and the ballad "Angel" rounds things off nicely. - ****
