Book Description

The Flame Moon series is intended for mature audiences. There is violence, sexual situations, and language that isn't so polite.

Skye Walters thought waking up on the side of a river with no memory was her biggest problem. She had no idea that the man who had saved her from drowning, the man she now depended on, Aiden, was more than mere mortal. A warrior of ancient.

No memory, nowhere to go, Skye stays in the mountain town, only to discover she herself, has unexplained powers. Her life, her destiny, are soon out of her control, as are her feelings for Aiden. The deeper Skye gets sucked into Aiden’s hidden world, the more the past, and who she really is, threatens her future, her love, her sanity.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap Twilight Fan Fiction 8 Dec. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I stopped reading this halfway through when I realized it was just another twilight. The main character is a helpless young girl, who meets a handsome rich guy with supernatural abilities, who happens to 150 years old, has a past that he regrets, etc. so basically the same plot as Twilight. I find it to be more crude though, so it's more like a twilight fan fiction.

    3.0 out of 5 stars Hysterical 13 April 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The author has a bold descriptive style, using words in new and inventive ways. Other reviewers have commented on the sex scenes, which are particularly funny. The story is fair enough. It's a bit turgid and not much happens. But the way in which it is written will have you falling off your chair laughing. That said, I'm glad to have finished the book and won't be buying others in the series.

If you can ignore the really basic grammatical mistakes in this story, it's quite enjoyable. The incorrect use of "too" and "to" is a pet hate of mine, and not the only one, which for me somewhat marred the experience.

It was also a little predictable to be honest, and there are obvious comparisons to be made with the Twilight saga, but I still enjoyed the book.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic 6 Nov. 2012

I absolutely loved this book, it had me gripped from cover to cover. The raw emotion throughout combined with excellent story telling meant I could not put it down. After reading a chapter on the commute to work I would spend the day wishing for the commute home so I could read some more. Would thoroughly recommend.

2.0 out of 5 stars Okay, but not for me 11 Oct. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
    Mild spoilers:

It's probably a good book if you're looking for fantasy fluff, but I never got to the end because I didn't get much satisfaction from reading it. Expect typical trope-ish plot elements, such as uncomplicated memory loss, discovery of untapped powers, and a romance which comes as a complete surprise to the protagonist but is a bit depressing to a reader who wants a bit more emotional depth. You expect it before even reading the book, and it's marched out with little originality but plenty of sex scenes. Above all, I wish the female main character had not flown off the handle at everything, I am fairly bored of female protagonists who are described one way by all the other characters but seem to present none of those traits to the reader.

Having said that, you will like this if you want something free that you can enjoy in an uncomplicated, detached way. Everyone likes fluff now and then, so this is that fluff. It's easy, it's got a plot which moves at a pace which doesn't dry your brain out, and there's a dog.

    3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable 1 Feb. 2013

It was a good read. the story seemed a bit rushed. The sex scenes dragged on a bit and could be crude which took the romance away.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not my type of read 28 Oct. 2013

I picked this book as it was on offer but i didn't really enjoy it. I found it so unreal but again it was fantasy.
The relationship between the main characters was difficult to understand.
There was too much violence and the powers were a bit weird.
On reading other peoples reviews many seemed to enjoy this book ,so i will put it down to just a bad choice for me.

    4.0 out of 5 stars A page turner, but.... 20 Oct. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've given Flame Moon 4 stars because for me it was a page turner due to the mystery and the story, I read it over 3 days because the story and ideas gripped me.

That said, I found the typical dark brooding male, helpless female thing very outdated and Mills and boon. I found the tedious sex scenes to be just unnecessary and standard unimaginative fare, I just ended up skipping those bits and the ending was a complete disappointment therefore. I think those scenes detract from the story and I would be happier being left with some mystery to concentrate on the detail. I recently read a book called 'Daughter of Smoke and Bone', another fantasy fiction where there was a love story running through the adventure, but it was such a relief when all sex scenes were left to the imagination. The writer still managed to convey the power of their relationship without resorting to a few cheap thrills, in fact more so.

Also some of the typos and grammatical errors could do with fixing; 'could of' instead of 'could have' for instance, is a basic schoolboy error. I would give this three and a half stars really as seems a little too much, but 3 seems mean, because the story itself did captivate me from page one.
