Product Description

Product Description

Widowed during the First World War at the age of 21, Christina returns to Flambards in the hope of picking up the threads of the life she knew before her marriage. But the Flambards Christina returns to is not the same - the paddocks are a jungle, the house buried in ivy, and the once busy stables empty and desolate. Christina sets herself to the task of returning Flambards to its former glory. This third novel in the best-selling Flambards series was reissued in the Oxford Children's Modern Classics series earlier this year, and is now being issued in a mass-market paperback format.

This is the third book in a series of FOUR. I would suggest starting with Book One (Flambards) to really appreciate the flow of the story. I read the four books as a child and bought them recently for my daughter (10). I have re-read them first and loved them as much second time around. Still a good read for any adult.

Flambards in Summer centres around Christina's stuggle to bring Flambards back to life. I would love to say much more but it is difficult without giving one or two surprises away.

In short - just read the books. They are brilliant, poignant and extremely enjoyable. Don't be put off by the horses on the cover - although horses play a part they are really only a part of the story. You do not have to be 'horsey' to enjoy them.

This book was sad in some places, but also funny, and really beleivable. KM peyton must know alot about horses, they were beautifully described and i fell in love with them! It was a great end to the flambards triology.

I found this book interesting and very gripping. It was quite humourous in parts and romantic in others. It took unexspected turns which added more to the mystery of the book
