Product Description

The poof-slinky 110 plastic original slinky continues to be a constant entertainer as it walks down stairs or comes alive in a child's hands. This classic toy stretches like an accordion, bounces and walks down steps one end at a time while making that classic slinky sound. Toy history was made when richard james conducted an experiment with tension springs. During the experiment, one of the springs fell to the floor and began to "walk". The slinky debuted 1945 at gimbals department store in philadelphia, pennsylvania and all (400) slinkys for sale were purchased in 90-minutes. Since then, over 300-million slinkys have been sold worldwide. The slinky is filled with nostalgia and has been featured in disney pixar's "toy story" movie franchise. It's the official state toy of pennsylvania and famous for one of the most popular jingles of all time, "it's slinky". Though it was developed to be a toy, the slinky was used by soldiers in vietnam as an antenna and a therapy tool for hand eye coordination. Slinky comes in assorted colors and is made of durable plastic for long lasting wiggly-jiggly slinky fun! this plastic slinky is made in the u.s.a., individually boxed and perfect for presents, party favors, easter baskets, grab bags, prizes and stocking stuffers. The slinky is truly a timeless toy, fun for adults and kids alike. The poof-slinky 110 plastic original slinky is recommended for children 5-years of age and older. Poof-slinky is the manufacturer of the world famous slinky and the top selling poof foam sport balls in north america, both manufactured in plymouth, mi and hollidaysburg, pa. Ideal and scientific explorer are other well-known brands, rounding out the poof-slinky family. With roots in the toy industry for over 100-years, poof-slinky brands continue to grow and broaden. New generations of kids, their parents and grandparents have proven that classic toys never go out of style

2.0 out of 5 stars false description 16 Dec 2012

The description of this product is incorrect. It states the slinky is 3.9 X 3-8 inches, when in fact it is 3 1/16 X 2 3/8 inches. The model number (110) is the same as one I purchased about 5 years ago, but the one I already have is 4 inches by 4 inches. I wanted the larger size, as that is what my grandson requested. It was very disappointing to receive something that was not as described on the website.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plain good old fun, modernized 12 Dec 2006

sure this doesn't make the popular clanking sound going down the stairs as the metal originals, but it still works well, and has been copied by many companies. I even have one with a business name on it. These fun, functional, and keep a kids imagination engaged. No noise or batteries needed. Buy someone you know this for a stocking stuffer this year.

I can't find a plastic Slinky anywhere around here in stores. Ordered 2 more from here for my parrot, little Pacific Parrotlet. There was one in his cage when I bought him, wrapped through the bars at the top, and he has slept in that every single night I've had him. He sits in the end, grabs a "handful" of rings and perches there for the night. He also likes running back and forth through it, hanging upside down from the end, and jumping out the end to grab the bars of the cage (especially when it's bed time and he's not ready to sleep!). Needed one for his travel/backup cage and a spare one.

I prefer the metal slinky, but this one was fine. You have to be gentle in handling it so it doesn't break. Good toy for kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars better than the original 14 Mar 2013

I don't need the metal slinky that gets bent easily and then the clips break and poke your kid. the plastic solves all of that.
