I have six sets of Superwomans in various colours and find them absolutely invaluable in winter. I had tried merino thermals, silk thermals and various Thermolactyl and suchlike thermals but these are the real deal and for the first time, I am actually warm. I don't wear them for skiing either - I wear them indoors, because I live in a freezing medieval house with an indoor temperature of between 8 and 14 degrees in winter. I find that when the weather's cold enough, you can even sleep in these things relatively comfortably, though they are a bit sweaty. During the day, that's no problem - the fabric wicks very well and all I wear over the top, usually, is a layer or two of fleece (I recommend Lands' End). NB: the men's Superman style of top is slightly different from the women's - it has a different neckline and raglan sleeves, so it is well worth trying both styles to see which you find more comfortable.
