Product Description

A brand new publication of this crime classic read by Hugh Fraser who plays Captain Hastings in the Poirot TV series, designed to follow the new look Hercule Poirot titles for the 21st Century.

Beautiful Caroline Crale was convicted of poisoning her husband, yet there were five other suspects: Philip Blake (the stockbroker) who went to market; Meredith Blake (the amateur herbalist) who stayed at home; Elsa Greer (the three-time divorcee) who had roast beef; Cecilia Williams (the devoted governess) who had none; and Angela Warren (the disfigured sister) who cried ‘wee wee wee’ all the way home.

It is sixteen years later, but Hercule Poirot just can’t get that nursery rhyme out of his mind…

Another Good Book 16 Mar 2004
Agatha Christie has done it again. This is another fantastic book of her's. The story goes, Caroline Crale is hung for murder, but years later Hercule Poirot has been asked to look into the case, to see if something was overlooked at the time. There are five suspects, and for some reason the nursery rhyme haunts his mind, as he goes through the only evidence available; The witness accounts.
No footprints, no fingerprints, snags of clothing, or handkerchiefs this time. This is surely a case to put Poirot's 'little grey cells' to the test...
This books takes many turns, and ends in true Christie style; with a massive twist!

Forumlaic dullness 4 May 2004
The usual Agatha Christie. The crime scene is set, Poirot hears about the crime, interviews all the people and then reveals the answer. Except in this story you have to endure not only the interviews but also additional 'written' accounts by the interviewees, telling the story time and time again.
Tiresome and not so unexpected a finish.
