This is one of the darkest and most entertaining 5 book there is! For the first time the 5 meet Jo, the scruffy ragamuffin that is to feature in other 5 books, and they are thrust headlong into an adventure that they find it hard to escape from.

George's scientist father has news that his daughter might be kidnapped as a way of blackmailing him into revealing some valuable scientific secrets. The five think they will be safe, but can they keep the kidnappers at bay or will Quentin have to choose between his daughter or science?

Well written, always moving and exciting, this book stands out from the other 5 books as one of the best childrens books Enid Blyton ever wrote. A must buy!

Their Ninth Outing 21 Feb 2012
By M. Dowden HALL OF FAME TOP 50 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
This is the ninth Famous Five book, and once again the intrepid group find themselves caught up in adventure. George's parents are off on holiday and have left Julian in charge of the rest of the group, along with trusty Joanna, the housekeeper. It looks to be a couple of weeks of relaxation, swimming and fun for the children. The children also meet a girl, Jo, who is in many ways like George herself.

Of course, with the Famous Five a quiet time is going o be out of the question. It starts one night when Anne sees a face at the window, to be followed by a burglary at the cottage. It is obvious that the burglars are after something of Uncle Quentin's. When George and Timmy mysteriously disappear it looks like another enthralling adventure is going to be under way.

With the three children, and hopefully Jo as well, can the group save George and Timmy from danger? With lots of excitement and adventure this is a fast paced tale that should keep children interested, indeed even adults as well. This edition is also fully illustrated throughout.

''Julian, Dick and Anne are really worried--George and her devoted Timmy have just disappeared! Not only that, somebody has broken in to Kirrin Cottage. Could there be a connection? The Famous Five think so, but it's going to be tough getting to the bottom of this mystery.'' is the blurb of Five fall into Adventure - the ninth book of the twenty-one. My favourite character is ragmuffin Jo - A total George. She is very helpful to the three when George and Timmy go missing. I would rate this book 6/ 10 because isn't the standard Enid Blyton story and it is rather boring.
