5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent presentation of modern astrophysics, 28 Aug 2001

The authors clearly understand their subject, and very effectively communicate their knowledge to the reader. Their approach to the history of our universe from the Big Bang to its potential demise is a plain-speaking, common-sense one, which I found a most refreshing change. The almost unimaginably long timescales covering the past, and in particular the future of the universe, are handled very effectively indeed. I can strongly recommend this book.
