Great light hearted read - and very useful too!, 2 Aug 2008
This review is from: Fit to Bust: A Comic Treasure Chest (Paperback)
Most books about breastfeeding are more like guide books: very detailed and give lots of information about and reasons for breastfeeding.
This book is different.
Full of funny pictures, parody songs and jokes it's a great light hearted read for anyone interested in breastfeeding.
It's particularly useful for anyone involved in breastfeeding support in any way because the songs / rhymes are easy to remember but often have an important point (my favourite is "deliver yourself - at home": set to the tune of "consider yourself") and are great for use in a support group or when trying to get a message across but without sounding like a miserable bugger!
I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning about breastfeeding though and it comes as a bit of light hearted relief after the other huge tomes you might have waded your way through!!

Giggle and Goggle, 23 Aug 2008
This review is from: Fit to Bust: A Comic Treasure Chest (Paperback)
I could not stop giggling at Alison's words and the cartoons are great classics.
This book would help any mum, friend, peer supporter, breastfeeding counsellor and lactation consultant to get over the true picture of breastfeeding as an art.
The songs to well known tunes, to deal with every breastfeeding situation, are funny and very memorable and could be sung to babies as a lullaby - they will not care about the words - or at any celebration of breastfeeding.
The anecdotes are very useful to pass on to other mothers in counselling situations.
The references are useful and it will be kept up to date by its web links.
A great investment and the perfect present for anyone involved with breastfeeding.
That is everyone now, as breastfeeding rises in profile with Dept of Health encouragement that all babies should be given the best possible start in life.

Highly original, infornative and entertaining!, 6 Oct 2008
This review is from: Fit to Bust: A Comic Treasure Chest (Paperback)
The book is a highly entertaining combination of poems, songs, jokes and breastfeeding facts which convey useful information about breastfeeding in a fun filled way. As a trainer of Maternity Nurses, I have read plenty of books on breastfeeding- but never one quite like this!
What makes this book even more special is that proceeds from the sale go to Baby Milk Action, the non-profit organisation which works tirelessly to protect breastfeeding and end the inappropriate marketing of breast milk substitutes.
This book really did make us laugh out loud and we think anyone who has breastfed or helped others to breastfed will recognise familiar situations! It is a great read for all maternity nurses, nannies and mothers.
