This disc contains four work-outs for Pilates: five minutes; ten minutes; fifteen minutes and twenty minutes. You can do one of them or any combination and even the short one makes you feel better. They become harder as the length of time progresses and I have not yet mastered the longest one. The instructor is alone on the visuals and is efficient and pleasant. The screen is free from distracting extra images: she suggests more difficult versions and demonstrates them herself whilst pointing out that you can remain with the easier ones if you wish. This removes the need for more people on the screen which I have found confusing on other discs. Whilst she moves briskly from one exercise to the next, there is time to follow her and stretch for relaxation and you do not have to find extra equipment during the sequences. I use this disc along with the 10 Minute Solutions series for variety and think this one ideal for the working person who sometimes might only have a short amount of time to spare. Excellent value for money and Pilates is a very good system to add to your cardio-vascular programme.

I've had this DVD for a year and use it 3 times a week. It's very clear and easy to follow, it seems fast at first but use the pause button until you can comfortably keep up, this really doesn't take long then the pace feels exactly right and any slower would be a drag.

Amy is an inspiration, lovely figure but not "Supermodel skinny" like so many DVDs. She talks you through everything and all the instructions are there. Even when you're used to the moves it's good to really listen so that you're doing everything right, it's easy to become sloppy and the discipline of listening and keeping time with Amy is very good practise. It's like being tutored by a wonderful friend, not pushy but very encouraging and gentle.

If you're a beginner be prepared to feel a bit, well... "lost"! If you're out of condition or new to Pilates then words like "engage your tummy muscles" may seem mysterious, all I can tell you is to stick with it, don't push to do advanced work, rest when you need to and you will soon become well acquainted with your abs and be able to engage them AND you'll enjoy doing it! Beware - finally having a firm figure and flat tummy is adictive!

Use the pause button if you're getting out of breath or need to go over smething, and remember it's always better to do 3 of something really well than 10 very badly. Listen to Amy, she tells you to re-set your back, only go to a higher level if you're comfortable etc, noting is to be gained by pushing too fast too soon.

I really like that Amy talks about using your bum muscles, or tummy muscles or that you'll feel this in the backs of your arms for example and doesn't use technical language. It's a very "friendly" workout at home!

this looks like it will be a good workout once you master the moves. found I could only hold a couple of the moves for a short time and found it difficult to do as many repetitions. Am sure with a bit more practice it will become easier. Instructor gave clear instructions with gentle moves.
If you want a more cardio workout this dvd is not for you.

This DVD is helpful in understanding the basics of pilates, working up to more advanced lessons without it becoming too much of a challenge to be put off trying them. And it does focus on breathing and posture throughout, which is very important for these kinds of exercises.
However I do find that the instructor seems a bit bored throughout the lessons and isn't as encouraging or as enthusiastic as I may have liked to have seen.

A good starter DVD, teaching you about posture and breathing techniques, as well as many of the classic exercise moves. Moving from very basic to more advanced lessons. However, the instructor isn't as enthusiastic as she could be.
