As Fussy Al has already stated, this items does not take a pruning saw even though, at the time (and for a long time), Fiskars website was explicitly stating it did. It took many months for Fiskars to respond and confirm that their site was wrong. Their belated excuse was that they were moving customer service from Bridgend to Nottingham - by foot presumably. Foolishly, because of the integral design, long reach and lifetime guarantee I still ordered one.
My previous (non Fiskar) lopper lasted nearly 20 years until the blade broke. This Fiskar one probably lasted less than an hour (non continuous usage) before it failed. Looks like the mechanism is jammed - since this is integral one can't really try and free it. Cutter will not operate - the handle pull part has a loose pulling belt and the cutter jaws are jammed closed.
Incidentally, Amazon packaging could have been better. Bits of cardboard (box) folded/taped around the item and 2 big grey plastic bags taped around. This did not prevent the token plastic packaging at the head being smashed to bits during transit. However, it still seemed to work so I did not return - perhaps that was a mistake but there was no obvious damage to the actual item.
Amazon gave fast ok for return (collection by courier) I just have to, somehow, package it over the w/e. Fiskars not yet replied to me re: this problem and obviously a lifetime guarantee is only as good - or poor - as the company providing it. The evidence suggests the latter.
