Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This is a big piece of equipment - 7ft 8in long in its collapsed state and almost 13ft fully extended. It's pretty much a big pole with heavy duty secateurs on the top.

It is a little unwieldy, just because of its length, and I found I had to be careful manoeuvring round the garden - especially near the greenhouse. The packaging suggests a maximum cut diameter of 32mm. I found it to be very sharp and it slid easily through anything up to 20mm. The thickest branch I've tackled is 29mm and that took a little more effort to cut. The problem was not with the sharpness of the blade but with the mechanics of device. You cut by sliding the orange 'handle' down the pole. But there's no leverage. I found that with thicker branches, in order to obtain the necessary purchase, I had to support the base of the pole against my stomach. This gave sufficient purchase but if there had been a lot of thick branches some padding would have been needed to make it comfortable. I found the pole difficult to grip wearing gardening gloves - my hands just kept sliding. Purchase was better with bare hands.

In order to achieve a few feet extra operating height there is an alternative method for working the cutting blade. That is to slip off the orange ball at the bottom of the pole and pull that away from the pole. The woven tape that runs the length of the pole, and is attached to the cutter to operate it, is fastened to this ball. There is a big problem with this method of cutting - you have to support the weight of the pole with one hand while you pull the ball away with the other. I found this difficult to do just because of the weight of the pole.

I also noticed, with just a few minutes use that the tape became a little slack and needed tightening up.

The Fiskar's TUC was offered by Longacres and arrived in just 2 days.
Length can be adjusted between 2.4 m and 3.9 m, allowing an average person to prune 5.4 m above standing level.
There are no instructions except some pictures on the packing, but it's easy to work out how to use it.
At under 2 kg most people should be able to wield it with 2 hands(you need 2 hands to operate it anyway).
There are actually 2 ways to operate it, depending on how high up you are holding it.
Well designed, the mechanism provides a high mechanical advantage so that cutting branches 30 mm diameter is not difficult. The blades appear to be high quality alloy steel and PTFE coated to improve performance and durability.
It has no external pulleys or dangling ropes, so it can penetrate through lower foliage to cut upper branches of trees without getting caught on the lower twigs, etc. The cutting head can also be adjusted to cut at an angle if a direct approach is not possible.
For maintenance, I would suggest some oil or grease on the steel chain to lubricate and protect it, especially if storing in a damp garage or garden shed. The nylon band may also need replacement after many years service.
It is more expensive than the cheap, cord operated cutters: but it totally outperforms them enabling safer, faster, better pruning, and if used properly I think it should be the last pruner you ever need to buy.

The product was delivered in the usual timely Amazon manner. It is tall which could prove a storage problem and the operating instructions depend more upon common sense than specific written guidance. It requires practice to manoevre the tool, but once you have found your branch, operating is both simple and effective.Don't be overly ambitious with too thick a branch unless you have herculean biceps and even then you might be thwarted. However overall the tool is beautifully made, very efficient and adaptable. One "but"is how you register the product for guarantee purpose.I doubt if it will be necessary but there is no guidance for that eventuality. All in all - a good buy.

This tool is pretty expensive for a telescopic lopper, but the quality is there. It's made of aluminium, so is relatively light, and has a longer reach than most. There is no external cord and untidy pulley arrangement, operation being by an enclosed tape and chain, operated by a sliding handle. It works beautifully, and is worth every penny.
It's always worth buying quality with tools and this is no exception.

Arrived just 3 days after placing my order on a super saver free delivery. I had had the chance to use one owned by a local tree surgeon, which must be a decent recommendation in itself, and thought it so good that I ordered one immediately.

It is lightweight and easy to handle, even at full extension . The operating mechanism is smooth and develops plenty of power; cutting back relatively soft Leylandii was effortless. Deadwood on an old plum tree was harder work but the Fiskars website does give its use as for fresh growth so don't expect it to tackle absolutely everything. Appears to be very well designed and durable.

The operating cord has stretched a little which is probably normal after initial use; a previous reviewer helpfully mentions how to sort this out.

On the downside, the only user information that comes with it is on the packaging in the form of a pictorial indication of how to use it but it's so simple that you could work that out in 30 seconds with nothing whatsoever to go on.

Don't bother with the manufacturer's website for product support info, because there isn't any. Probably one of the worst manufacturers' websites I've come across lately; bizarre, and a complete contrast to the product itself hence 4 stars rather than the 5 it otherwise deserves.
