When Peter F Anson published this book in 1932, a sea change was taking place in the English commercial fishing industry. Diesel engines and hardened steel were replacing sails and wooded hulls. The old ways were quickly dissapearing. "Fisherman and Fishing Ways" is a nostalgic look back at a pre-modern fishing world. Peter F Anson is a charming writer with a deep knowledge of the boats and the sea. However, what really makes this book are Anson's line drawings. He was a truly gifted naval illustrator and his drawings still have great appeal. Highly recommended.
