Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
This castle is physically large, and well made out of good-quality colourful plastic. However, it arrives with only two figures (Dora and her fairy Godmother), a wand and a treasure chest. It looks pretty empty, even with these two happliy installed in the variety of rooms.

There are five separate furniture packs, and a figure set available to complete the castle, but at the moment you can only order these from the US (they are not expensive, but postage costs add considerably to the total).

The castle has only limited play value without the accessories, and right now, you can't buy those here, which seems very odd. For a Dora fan, like my daughter, it's not great value.

The person in the review above clearly didn't look very far for the furniture/figures as I found them readily available at ToysRUs!!! I agree that the castle is a little empty when it arrives, but then most doll's houses (which is effectively what this is) are sold empty and it's up to you to chose what to add to them. What my family really loves about this toy is that it's alot more imaginitive than a classic doll's house - it has various interactive features that you activate with a magic wand eg a trapdoor and revolving door - my daughter really loves these. And the furniture also has these eg the dining table "magically" expands to a fully laid table, etc. Keeps her entertained for ages!

An Enchanting Castle for Children 4 Nov 2006
By Jeffrey T. Munson - Published on Amazon.com
My wife and I bought this castle for my daughter's 3rd birthday. The assembly was quick and easy (which is important for us parents!). My daughter loves playing with the Dora figure which is included with the set. There are other interesting things as well, such as a magic mirror, a trap door, and a treause chest that opens and closes. These items are controlled by the magic wand which is included with the castle.

The major drawback is that there is no furniture included with the castle. Rooms of furniture are sold separately, but they are relatively inexpensive. We purchased the living room, bedroom, and fantasy room to go along with the castle. Each room of furniture contains a magic wand, and there are special items in each room that the wand can activate. Unless you purchase some of the rooms of funriture along with the castle, the castle will be empty and not very fun to play with.

I recommend this castle to parents of young children. They will have hours of fun making up their own Dora adventures, but be sure to purchase some of the furniture that goes with the castle.

My 26 month old daughter loves this castle! 12 Jan 2007
By Proud Mama - Published on Amazon.com
Santa brought this castle for my daughter and she loves it! We got it from Costco so it came with furniture and many of the extra characters. She plays with this toy repeatedly throughout the day. The only downfall is that this castle does not fold up and it is quite large. But my daughter loves it and it is really quite cute.

Great Toy for a Dora Fan with a Big Imagination! 14 Jan 2007
By J. Leedy - Published on Amazon.com
Before Christmas, I took my daughter to Toys R Us to browse, so I could see which toys interested her. This castle instantly caught her eye, and since the accessory packs aren't too expensive, we bought it for her for Christmas. I'm very glad we did. It was fairly simple to put together, no hardware required. Almost a month later, I haven't had any problems with it falling apart. It's not made from the best quality plastic, but unless your child will be standing on it, it should last quite a long time. My 3 year old daugher and 4 year old son play with it for hours. I like that there is a place on the roof for the magic wand that comes with the castle. My other favorite feature is that it requires NO BATTERIES!!!!! The only thing that takes batteries is the horse and carriage attachment and since all it does is play music, I don't think it should go through them that quickly. The magic wands have magnets in them but they are safely sealed in the plastic, so they won't pose a choking hazard unless the wand is broken open, which from what I can tell is virtually impossible. Another nice feature- one wand works all the stars, so you can give one to your child and put the rest away for when that one gets lost. There are only two drawbacks that I've noticed: 1. it doesn't fold up for storage, and 2. It's not really big enough for all the furniture packs.
