Fisher-Price was founded by Herman Fisher, Irving Price and Helen Schelle in 1930 and has since become one of the most trusted names in the baby toy and baby gear industry. Fisher, Price and Schelle combined their diverse manufacturing and retailing experience to establish a high-quality toy company that debuted 16 wooden toys at the International Toy Fair in New York City. Since then, generations of children have grown up playing with Fisher-Price's award winning baby toys and using Fisher-Price's award winning baby gear.

Currently, Fisher-Price is the umbrella brand over all of Mattel's infant and preschool lines. In 1969, at the age of 71, Herman Fisher retired as President of Fisher-Price and the company was purchased by The Quaker Oats Company. In 1991 it became an independent, publicly traded company and in 1993 Fisher-Price became a wholly owned subsidiary of Mattel. The Fisher-Price line of baby gear includes play yards, baby bouncers and baby swings.

Much better than typical overhead 14 Nov 2011
By M. J. Still - Published on Amazon.com
Love this gym! My 3 month old will stare at it for minutes (which is hours for an infant). Another reviewer pointed out that the two overhangs are low - I've found this is not an issue if you lay your child in the middle and slightly lower than the bars - she loves it. Great Fischer-Price product!

What I love most about this gym - unlike the typical full overhead gyms - this gym will still be used once the baby is sitting up. Most overhead gyms are relegated to the basement after the baby is mobile (according to my friends with older kids). A friend of mine with a one year old - who's overhead gym is in her basement - came over for a playdate. The one year old enjoyed sitting and playing with this gym (especially the mirror).

Great musical gym 27 Sep 2011

The product has great quality and stimulates kids with its colorful design and toys. Within the best gyms I've seen!
Cons: the mat could be a little bit thicker or with more cushion inside.

Short lived fun 17 April 2012
By Kat L. - Published on Amazon.com
We used this mat for about three weeks. At first it was fantastic. The baby was learning to grasp and spent a good amount of time staring at the various characters. We loved the wide variety of things to play with and that you could move them around so it always stayed fresh. Unfortunately, the two arms that are supposed to suspend the toys began to sag and the toys were on the mat two weeks later. The baby no longer had room on the mat because the arms blocked the space and the toys were too low to see. Because we loved the mat, we called Fisher Price to figure out if there was some kind of support we could rig to get the arms to stand up again, but no luck. Their customer service immediately offered to allow us to return it. Although I appreciate that they'll send a postage paid label, I still have to find a box large enough to ship this. Then it's 6-8 weeks for the refund. In the meantime I guess I'm shelling out more money for a new mat.
