I actually bought this toy to keep my 2 yr old son's attention on a long 15 hr flight. It was to be whipped out as a surprise when he got very cranky. But he found it at home & I just *had* to let him play with it. Errr....it is *very* loud. The songs are clear & he does get a kick of trying to put the right shape in the right area but gosh....it's loud. I will NOT be taking this on the plane with me & am going to hunt for something else. Other than this drawback, this toy is quite nice if your child is a Barney fan. Cheers.

I got this for my 18 month old son for Christmas, and he has been playing with it daily. He loves anything Barney so naturally I thought this would be a hit. But it actually surprised me that it has an educational value teaching shapes and colors, with motivational cues from Barney. The sound is a bit loud, but its so enjoyable to see my son get up and dance everytime Barney sings the "clean up" song. Given, I would not bring it along to places where you wouldn't want to annoy other people,(like in a restaurant) The parts are sturdy and durable. I recommend this cute toy!

I got this before my baby was born and he LOVES it! He likes to push Barney's head and play with the buttons. Also it's fun play with the shapes. This was well worth the money. The age guidelines start at 18 months, but he started to enjoy it at around six months. It seems safe for under 18 months.
For durability I gave it four because I am not crazy about two parts of the design. 1)There is no on/off switch, so it can go off if I touch Barney's head accidentally. 2)It is supposed to pick up toys, but I find the large hole at the bottom annoying because when I store it in the toy box, the shapes fall out and get lost.
Otherwise we love it!
