But this book is not just about selling fish; it's a love story that can happen in your organisation too.' -- Ken Blanchard, from the Foreword 'FISH! is by far the best book that I have ever read about motivating a team through creative leadership' -- Amazon Reader Review (Of FISH!) 'I think that this book should be given to any new employee...on their first day of work... Buy it.' -- Amazon Reader Review
The title refers to Seattle's Pike Place Fish Market, a famous tourist attraction where the fishmongers dazzle their customers by chucking their dinners across the service counters like so many finned frisbees. The lesson is that these fishmongers have big capitalized FUN at jobs which ordinarily rank fairly low on stimulation levels. Could we learn something from this? The authors analysed the examples and elaborated a workplace philosophy effectively based on the concept that Loosening Up Won't Kill Your Business and Might Even Help. It sold a million copies and inspired the management at blue chips like Ford, Harley-Davidson and Ipswich Town FC. This sequel picks up the tail with a series of true testimonials from people who have tried dressing up as Elvis or wearing silly hats to meetings and by doing so have made positive changes at their previously dreary and unproductive offices. Swift and easy to read, the ideas are immediately digestible and make sense enough to be taken seriously. But not too seriously, mind. (Kirkus UK)
