We bought this unit in September from one of these companies that operate on the Amazon website but obviously aren't Amazon. Initially the unit was great but then the end of the hose which is connected to the vacuum cleaner, started to detach in December. It was January by the time it started to become unusable so we tried to contact the company to request a replacement hose (as the actual unit itself was fine). After 5 unsuccessful attempts at trying to contact the company - which was only by email as they don't list an contact phone number - we contacted Amazon themselves.

Amazon informed us that there is only a 3 month warranty on the unit. First of all, a 3-month warranty on any electrical product is unacceptable and yes, it is our fault for not reading the 'small print'. Secondly, the customer service is deplorable with no return contact and not listing a phone number just allows them to hide behind the grand walls of Amazon.

However, the biggest disappointment here is the fact that Amazon seem uninterested. Whilst I admit that the product was supplied by another company, I believe that if you allow a company to sell from/via your website then you should have conducted a proper vetting and validation process to allow them to do so. You would expect the company to operate to certain standards that are, ultimately representative of you as an organisation, as they are trading under your name. My husband and I have been dealing with Amazon for nearly 10 years and we place, between us, an average of more than one order per month but we are considering stopping. We have experienced nothing but impeccable and professional service & customer service from Amazon all over the years but this experience albeit indirectly of Amazon, has left a bad taste.

Having recently installed a wood burning stove, we soon discovered the hassle of removing the ashes each day with half of them ending up on the carpet or down my front! This powerful yet lightweight vacuum removes the cold ashes quickly and only needs emptying once a week at most - we just carry the canister into the garden and empty onto the compost heap - easy! Would recommend to anyone with stoves, chimineas or who loves messy DIY!

this tool is very useful and does what it says it will, the hose could be a little longer and more flexible but other than that it's good

Very prompt delivery and as the seller described the product.Oh what a joy to clean out the multifuel stove! The vacuum is fabulous. It does its job really well and is clean and efficient. Its easy to empty and I can use it three days before emptying it.I would recommend this product to anyone battling with the dust and dirt of cleaning out the fire and taking out the ashes which usually spill of the tray and blow everywhere when you take it outside to discard the ashes! Great addition to my gadgets to make life easier.

I was a little worried by the review which said they had bought an 800W machine instead of a 1200W one, so I googled it and bought the same model elsewhere only where it stated the Wattage. Initially very pleased with vacuum, I (very) quickly realised there was a fault with the hose.

As stated by a previous reviewer, my hose was relatively useless - it broke within the first hour of use. The hose is too rigid for its intended purpose and will just snap if trying to manoeuvre into the corners of stove to suck ash. As I bought from another company, I was able to google the tel number and got a replacement sent out straight away, but I would advise anyone to get some electrical tape and heavily tape at the joints at either end of the hose - it has worked fine since.
I would also make sure you are getting the 1200W version as I really wouldn't want any less suction!
Hope this is of help x

Good product overall but would be much better with a longer suction hose. Easy to use and clean, but the hose is too short for most purposes. You end up having to hold the vacuum cannister in one hand and vacuum with the other.

Bought this so I didn't ruin my vacuum cleaner. Works well but very messy to empty, definitely to be done outside on a non windy day!

Check when you get this that it really is a 1200 watt model, as mine arrived (from a different company) with only 800 watts, and I was told that a 1200 watt model was not available... which is a shame, because it could really use some extra power, which was why I ordered the more powerful model. Having said that, because ash is extremely light, it does more or less manage. But after the first use, the filter clogs, and ideally it should be emptied after each use to restore suction. The filter needs a lot of persuasion to get rid of the dust, and as another reviewer said, only do this outside on a non windy day.
Bottom line - I have got rid of the dust pan beneath my wood burning stove, and use the vacuum cleaner to suck out all the ash and dust. I do not find the short length of the hose is a problem. When it is freshly emptied and the filter shaken free of dust, it readily sucks up ash, bits of coal, nails etc... even without the fine nozzle. So long as you empty it after each use, this seems to continue, and even with the hassle of emptying and cleaning the filter, it is easier and far less messy than collecting the ash and sweeping by hand. I have no idea how other reviewers are managing a whole week without emptying. Although the canister will be far from full, the suction will be pretty hopeless.
