Blues'n'Trouble were the biggest secret in blues in the mid-80's and sadly they're still the biggest secret in blues today. Absolute fantastic albums - if you have even a passing interest in blues then you won't be let down. Buy 100 copies and force them on your friends - it's time to let the cat out of the bag...

superb british blues, 15 Jul 2003
Two great albums from a fine British blues band on one disc, plus some tasty bonus tracks. Although I've yet to hear this compilation on CD, I can tell you that these two separate albums released on vinyl were very fine indeed, comprised of a mix of originals and standards mostly in the Chicago style. Blues N' Trouble hit the British blues scene in a blaze of live and studio activity in the mid 80s, and supported the likes of BB King and Robert Cray on their live dates in London. Live, Blues N'Trouble were a hot and tight blues act that enjoyed a cult status. "Honey pot" is a storming ragtime original (and tribute to oral sex) that became a live favorite, not just with BN'T but also with other bands who used to cover it. "Sloppy drunk" and "Beautiful City" are harmonica and foot stomping classics in the style of Sonny Boy Williamson, whilst "Tearstains On My Pillow" and "Double Trouble" are beautiful searing guitar workouts. Others such as "Madison Blues", "Cadillac" and "Let it Rock" are upbeat rock n' roll numbers led by the dynamic "telecaster" Dave on rhythm guitar. Also of note is the honky-tonk piano on a number of the "No Minor Keys" numbers, by none other than Ian Stewart, long time pianist to the Rolling Stones. Ian Stewart recorded here for the last time before his untimely death in 1986. In my opinion, these early songs from this five-piece Scottish act represent the cream of the British blues scene. I understand that BN'T are still alive and kicking on the blues festival circuit today, although with a much changed line-up.
