The book is about these original teachings of Christ unadulterated by distortion, poor translation and selfish revision. Author Maharishi Sadashiva Isham (MSI) travelled to the Himalayas where he came upon a secret order of monks founded by Apostle John. The Ishayas taught him the art of ascension and this means to rise above stress and negativity is the lesson he learned - an incorporates into this book. First Thunder is a novel based upon the author's personal experience with an ancient order of monks, the Ishayas. Living high in the Himalayas, the Ishayas were founded by the Apostle John nearly 2.000 years ago. Their purpose was to preserve the true teachings of Jesus the Christ until the beginning of the third Millennium. This teaching contains the Seven Thunders spoken of in John's Revelations, sealed until now. John predicted that all of humanity would learn these seven, thereby bringing in the prophesied new millennium and creating Heaven on Earth.

MSI experienced the Ishaya's Seven Thunders in the early 1990's, and was directed by the Ishayas to bring the teaching of Ascension to the world. Based on Praise, Love, Gratitude, and Compassion, the four feet of the First Thunder are the master keys to unlock all the mysteries of creation. Unlike many books of the New Age, First Thunder, brings to the world a comprehensive teaching that if practised, will lead one to full human consciousness, Enlightenment.

Although this book reads very much like Celestine Prophecy, the difference is that it is based on true events (there is a disclaimer that some facts have been changed to enhance the story line). Although I personally would have prefered a non-fiction medium, it reads well. I hope to take an Ascension course in November!

Great book for opening your heart more. 3 July 1998

Dear Fellow Readers, This book opened the door to my heart just a crack, changing my life forever. Shortly after reading it I took one of the First Sphere Weekend courses to learn the techniques described within it. My heart opened so much during the weekend that I knew I had to help share this teaching with all of humanity. So I became a teacher and dedicated my life to spreading the Ishayas' Teaching throughout the world. It has been a great adventure and a heart warming experience. Please give yourself the opportunity to share in this wonderful epic adventure book. I am sure it will have some effect on you.

Reading First Thunder has changed my life in ways that that I didn't even know were possible. I felt like the story was written specifically for me as each event in the book resonated a truth about me and my life. It restored my lost faith and gave me hope for both myself and for all of humanity. It is written in a fun yet balanced manner in so far that it made me laught, cry, and most of all love again. I will continue to read this book over and over for the rest of my life with Praise, Gratitude and Love.

As a practitioner of Ascension, I can attest to its powerful effects on one's life. MSI was not a great writer, but he was a great teacher. "First Thunder" is a fantasy. The characters begin to follow the path of Ascension and find their lives turned into an adventure. That adventure is an allegory of life lived in accordance with the principles of praise, gratitude, love and compassion - an adventure driven by synchronicity. Ascension is not a religion nor a belief system. MSI created no cult, nor any organization. He lived to pass on the tools of enlightenment known as the Ascension Attitudes. He did not reveal them in his writings, he entrusted them to Ascension teachers. Beginning to walk the path of Ascension can be an ego-shattering, mind-bending experience for some. It is best MSI did not leave us with only books to lead us. During his short life he trained teachers first to protect the integrity of the Attitudes, and then to share them. "First Thunder" is a tantalizing glimpse of lives changed forever by the practice of Ascension.
