Great 21 July 2011
By The Emperor TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This contains:

The Raven
The Masque of the Red Death
The Cask of Amontillado

Poe really was a great writer. The Raven is so enjoyable it almost makes me want to memorise it.

The masque of the Red Death is extremely atmospheric and has a very powerful and disturbing impact. It really shows that horror doesn't always have to be explicit.

The writing is very descriptive and poetical and it really is deserving of its status as a classic. It is the type of story that you really want to read again as soon as you have finished it so that you fully enjoy the writing and imagery.

The cask of Amontillado was also quite creepy.

Two stories and a poem by Poe - A review of the free Kindle version 31 Mar 2011
By Roger Zeus - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a small collection of two tales by Poe, "The Masque of the Red Death" and "The Cask of Amontillado", and the famous poem, "The Raven". The formatting of the poem is awkward, with the common problem of the line break being in the wrong place, making it annoying at best, unreadable at worst. There is no contents pages, but it's a small enough collection that this isn't really a problem. 5-stars for the material, it's all classic, but you'd be much better off getting one of the more substantial Poe collections available here for Kindle. (To clarify, and since Amazon seems to throw all the reviews various editions of a work, I am reviewing the free Kindle version, ASIN: B004TPFON0)

Once again the people at Project Gutenberg get my thanks for making this available for free. There were no formatting problems.

a whole lot better 14 Mar 2012

This free book is WAY better than Poe's volumes 1,2,3, and 4. It has more poems and the wording is clearer. Although both are free, yes, I put my vote in the geutenburg edition. I own this one on my kindle fire and it works great!
