My 4yr old has just become interested in history, timelines etc so we got him this book and another in the series, The Romans. Both are excellent. The text is short and easy to read without him feeling he is getting bogged down in too much information. He asks questions about the pictures and pours over them for ages. The pictures in this book also have some really random descriptions which are very funny ;)...for example, 'This hole hasn't been made by a wild animal, but by the artist. This is so that you can see the fire inside the house' and 'This man is pretending to make a bone tool. He is really about to have a nap'...ha ha ha. Not entirely historically accurate but who knows...and certainly injects some humour ;) I really like this book as it deals with a very interesting subject in an accessible way for youngsters.
