A very well written book,
By Thomas Holm (Denmark) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The First Book of Modern Lace Knitting (Dover Knitting, Crochet, Tatting, Lace) (Paperback)
A must-have. The patterns may at first appear old-fashioned, but they represent some of the classics within lace knitting. No seriuos lace knitter should be without it. A collection of patterns, some of which appeared earlier as leaflets. Each with a picture, clear instructions, pattern charts and suggestions for variations.

Exquisite knitted lace designs,

This review is from: The First Book of Modern Lace Knitting (Dover Knitting, Crochet, Tatting, Lace) (Paperback)
This is a collection of exquisite knitted lace designs by Marianne Kinzel. The patterns are in very fine thread lace and mostly use knitting needle sizes around 2.00 mm or finer. The sizes of the pieces range from doilies to tablecloths and bedspreads and every lace knitter should have this book and Book 2 in her collection.

Lessons in Lace,
By
This review is from: The First Book of Modern Lace Knitting (Dover Knitting, Crochet, Tatting, Lace) (Paperback)
This is such a warmly instructive book with sensible and logical solutions - such as how to keep the stitches on four wildly waving needles while you set about managing those first few fiddly rounds and how to dress out a cotton doily so that it looks as pristine as a snowflake.
In short, this is a lovely book and in my opinion, a lace-knitters bookshelf would be incomplete without it.
