4.0 out of 5 stars First Love 16 Aug 2000
By Affaire de Coeur - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Lena Caldwell has led a very sheltered life. As an only child with very strict parents, she was shy and had very few friends. Her father died when she was in high school, and she dropped out of college when her mother died. Her life is pretty sedentary, working at a bank and going to her family home. She doesn't think she is missing out on anything until Quincy Taylor walks into the bank for an interview as Manager of Human Resources. Quincy is entranced by the pretty young woman who greets him when he goes to his job interview. He finds her innocence and naïvete appealing, a change from the women he has been encountering, especially a bold sister on the job who lets him know she is his for the taking. But Quincy is attracted to Lena and she to him. Their time together is sweet and precious. Over time their friendship turns to love and they become a couple. When it looks as if they may have a future together, Rhonda, Quincy's ex-love comes back into the picture after three years, admitting she made a mistake. Quincy loves Lena but never had closure with Rhonda. Ms. Faye gives us characters so believable you actually think you know them. This is a well-paced story and plot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Story! 31 July 2000
By B. J. Woodbury - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I have had the pleasure of reading all of Cheryl Faye's books and realized after reading this book why I love her style of writing so much. Ms Faye, presents to us the three-ring relationship issues. There's this great couple, Lena Caldwell and Quincy Taylor; then there's the ex-fiance Rhonda. The author shows us in this easy read of 24 chapters and 250 pages the first time love for Lena with Quincy. Quincy's patience and love did alot for shy-sheltered Lena. But in any relationship stories done by Ms Faye there is always a conflict boiling somewhere. Well she developes the story very well by giving us an illustration as to how the conflict gets resolved.

I truly enjoyed, Lena, Quincy, Karen and Serge; the delightful Cheryl (character in this book) turned out to be an asset in this story, but first she really tested my nerves. As for Rhonda, a lesson in life she needed to learn.

Thanks Cheryl Faye for another one of your books providing some life-lesson matters dealing with relationships and matters of the heart.

If you enjoy books that just happen to be about couples that involve another woman making every effort to break them up, check out these books by Ms Faye: At First Sight, A Time For Us and A Test of Time. You won't be disappointed how well she works these stories and will appreciate the author for using this as a major subject matter for her books.

Looking forward to your next book! Much success throughout the new century.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good story 18 Nov 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
As I can relate to Lena on a number of different levels I really enjoyed this book! Everyone was believable and realistic. I did, however, give this book just 4 stars as I found the author's style of writing to be a little lacking. Some of the dialogue was a bit corny;i.e. 'after you my lady love'... Please! Who says that? I love a good line as much as the next romance lover but I shouldn't burst out laughing when I read it. A few grammatical errors were also found. Don't know whether I should blame the author or the editor as these should have been caught before printing. The love scene was nice, but there was only one. I'm not a pervert or anything but I would have liked to have seen Lena mature in that aspect as well, since she did mature in other aspects of her life. All in all a good read I will read it several more times.
