Besides the fact that FIRST KIDS is just an amazing, well-researched, totally interesting tome about the children of the U.S. Presidents from George Washington to George W. Bush, it's even more remarkable that it was written by 13-year-old Noah McCullough. Noah, who vows to run for President in 2032, is obsessed with everything political. Good thing, too, or we'd never have such a resource as FIRST KIDS.

Filled with biographical information, outstanding photographs, and fun-filled "Fast Facts" section on each First Family, this is a non-fiction book that reads like a great novel. Kids and teens can use it for school reports, parents can use it as a resource guide, teachers could use it as a teaching instrument in the classroom - basically, its worth can't even be measured.

I personally loved the "Fast Facts" section, where I learned things such as:

The Carter family had a dog named Grits and a cat named Misty Malarky Ying Yang.

The McKinleys once served a meal in the White House that consisted of 71 courses.

JFK and his family never called John, Jr. John-John, although he was dubbed the nickname by the press and repeatedly referred to by that name.

Mrs. Taylor, Zachary Taylor's wife, spent most of her time in the White House in her room, knitting and smoking her corncob pipe.

There are tons more interesting facts included in FIRST KIDS. The whole family will have a great time reading through this truly interesting book, which I recommend for every home and school library!

Great book :-) 6 Aug 2008
By Little Miss Cutey - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I first saw 13 year old Noah as a correspondant on Jay Leno during the conventions when he was only 9. This is his second book (the first was on Presidential trivia) and you'd never think he was only 13 - he's so smart and mature and very knowledgable.
He tried to contact all living First Kids to talk about themselves and their lives at the White House, but only two responded. Susan Ford was so interested, that she wrote the forward here. It's very well done and geared for kids and covers everything from vegetables they all like/dislike, games they'd play to amuse themselves and pets etc.
I think Noah is really going to be going places. He wants to run for the Presidancy in 2032 and at this rate, he'd have a fairly good shot. I can't get over how smart he is and this book is very impressive and fun.

First Kids 17 Nov 2008
A Kid's Review - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
First Kids is a book with biographies about all the first kids. There are also facts about the White House, kids who help their dads in the White House, and stuff the Presidents liked to do. I'm nine years old and I liked the book a lot because it's interesting learning about the kids of the Presidents instead of just the President. There are also interesting facts that you wouldn't think of wanting to know right away like how Amy Carter had the same room as Caroline Kennedy, Luci Johnson, and Tricia Nixon. Also, a thirteen year old wrote the book which amazes me. I give it 4 1/2 stars!
