After training throughout the fall and winter at Aldershot, he accompanied his regiment to the front in April, and, as his narrative discloses, immediately saw some very active service and rapidly rose to the rank of captain. This is an important look at the war to end all wars. But I would suggest that any veteran can relate to the themes that are offered in this book. Should be required reading for any history biff.
