4.0 out of 5 stars Horror Compendium 24 Aug 2008

A homage to the Herbert van Thal Pan books of Horror collections of the '60's.

Brings back fond memories of short horror stories in the gothic tradition. If you liked the Pan books of horror stories, this series should appeal to you. The style and quality is varied and interesting - just like the old Pan stories, some will appeal more than others depending on your own taste. There always seems to be one stand out story which draws you in and makes the series memorable.

My own particular favourite is the John Travis entry 'Dissertation on a Mouthful of Seaweed', a well crafted 'monster' story which happens to be one of the longer narratives in the book.

Very enjoyable - I look forward to future releases in what I hope will be an extended series.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Great God Pan would approve 9 Nov 2008
Excellent idea for revamp of those old Pan book of horrors I used to buy cheap as a boy (did anyone buy them new?).

Gary McMahon, Carol Weeks and John Travis's stories spooked me the most, the rest were good also, except one i really didn't like.

Worth a punt of your hard earned cash, will be buying the next one, unless someone sends me a free one lol
