A lovely collection of period shorts. A mix of cartoons, short films and documentaries. Not only does it give an interesting insight to the home front at the time, but is an interesting reminder of just how prevalent propaganda and misinformation were. Several shorts are so xenophobic (once a German always a German) that they would shock even a Daily Mail reader.
A lovely collection, some of the animation is wonderful. Its only a shame that the included book doesn't list the shorts in order, but seems to list them randomly so you never quite know which one you are watching, but there is a scene selection that lists them so more a confusing layout point than a criticism.
Obviously as well, it is silent but with a music score. I mention this only because in conversation with a friend I pointed it out and he said "Oh, yeah, I never thought". Its not stupidity of course, it just might not register instantly as we are so used to sound recordings.
As this is the centenary year I really recommend getting this. Its a well spent couple of hours and a well spent tenner.
